Support your Immunity Naturally this Winter

Support your Immunity Naturally this Winter

Winter Wellbeing From the Hive:

When it comes to the winter months your well-beeing is important(sorry we could miss the opportunity). In short the decrease in humidity and more time spent in close proximity with others means viruses are more common. Not only that but the weather and short days can have a huge impact on our energy levels.

You’ve heard the saying ‘look after yourself from the inside out’ many times by now, that couldn’t be truer especially in the winter months. We hate risking sounding like your mother, but being proactive with your wellbeing is always better than reactive measures.

Boost energy this winter with bee pollen:

The winter blues is something we can all relate with. Shorter, darker and wet days can often leave people feeling down and unenergized.

Bee pollen is also great for fighting fatigue and may help to improve physical strength. It’s a natural energiser, helping to boost speed and stamina, the perfect to help you get out of those winter blues!

The nutritional ingredients in bee pollen ( list below) makes it a great natural energizer.

The carbohydrates, protein and B vitamins can help keep you going all day by enhancing stamina and helping fight signs of fatigue. Many athletes use Bee Pollen as a natural energy provider to help with speed and stamina.

Not only can Bee Pollen help you out of your winter slump, it can help to maintain and improve your general wellbeing too.

With a high quantity of antioxidants, taking Bee Pollen can aid in the body's anti-inflammatory responses. Various studies have explored how bee pollen can assist with inflammation, fighting infections and bad bacteria, and boosting immunity.

Bee Pollen contains 185 known nutritional ingredients:

  • 22 amino acids
  • 27 mineral salts, the entire range of vitamins, hormones, carbohydrates and fat
  • More than 5,000 enzymes and coenzymes

We have two great options when it comes to Bee Pollen; granules or easy to take capsules.

Add our Bee Pollen Granules  into your daily routine by swallowing it by the spoon full with water, added to cereal, smoothies, protein shakes or even sprinkled on top of your toast. Or make you life super easy with our Bee Pollen Capsules, just swallow with water.

Sleep

Ahh sleep, now we really sound like your mother. You can take all the immunity boosting products in the world but it won't be much use without enough sleep.

Did you know that unlike us humans, bees are not effected by circadian changes like daylight saving.  Bees work and sleep to the beat of their own drums! They work and sleep at different times with no apparent 24-hour pattern. Which means their hives are busy all the time.

But for us humans sleep and the immune system have a two way relationship. Studies indicate that lack of sleep both short and long term can make you sick. Sleeping allows your body to focus its energy on other things like your immunity, getting enough sleep helps your body fight infections and rejuvenate

So don’t underestimate the great healing and immunity boosting effects of full night sleeps!

Protect your hive like our bees do - with propolis!

Bee’s know a thing or two when it comes to protecting the hive and the best part is they do it naturally! Propolis is a natural antioxidant, often referred to as ‘nature’s best defence’.

Propolis is the sticky resin that seeps from the buds of some trees and oozes from the bark of other trees. Our bees collect Propolis and make it even powerful before taking it back to the hive. On their back legs (pollen baskets) bees collect and carry propolis, but before returning to their hive they use their glands found on their abdomen to add enzymes and beeswax flakes to the propolis.

This creates the most sterile environment known in nature and protects the hive against disease. That’s why we call propolis is nature’s natural antibiotic antiseptic.

We collect the propolis by placing a plastic mat onto the hive.  There are 4 mats in the one frame. Each mat has round holes in it leaving gaps between each. Our bees block up all the gaps on the mat with propolis as the mat is seen as being unsanitary to them.

The matts are then collect by our beekeepers from the hives and propolis is then scrape off the mats and used in our Happy Valley products such as;  NZ Propolis Throat Spray, NZ Propolis Tincture 25%, Propolis Extract NZ, NZ Propolis Capsules and NZ Propolis and Honey

Add propolis into your daily winter routine by spreading or propolis and honey on toast, by the spoonful in or in a hot drink. Take it on the go with our convenient throat spray, gargle or take our propolis capsules.

Naturally, we have you this winter, with wellbeing from the hive.

There are so many easy steps we can take to help look after our immune system and help it to fight viruses such as the common cold.
